FTC Pauses CARS Rule Effective Date

 Cox Automotive is aware of the FTC CARS rule and will continue to monitor developments. While the effective date has been postponed, we are continuing to evaluate the impact of the CARS rule on our dealers’ operations.  As your partner, you can expect more guidance from us on what you may need to do to prepare for compliance with the CARS rule as more information becomes available.

On December 12, 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) finalized the Combating Auto Retailing Scams (CARS) Rule, focused on advertising/pricing, record-retention, add-on products and consumer disclosures. While the CARS rule was originally set to take effect on July 30th, 2024, the FTC has postponed the effective date of the final rule pending judicial review.
