CPO Cross Shopping: Luxury Cars
As car shoppers cross-compare used luxury sedans with their CPO alternatives, some brands are achieving higher degrees of consideration for their CPO versions than others. While most luxury cars hover near the segment average, there are outliers — only three brands have models that exceed the segment average range, including luxury leaders BMW and Mercedes-Benz (along with Lexus), while one brand notably falls below (Volvo). Newer models are also generally slower than more established models to acquire CPO attention (e.g., the Infiniti models and the A3 sedan), which is influenced in part by inventory and pricing (given the limited model years available). Understanding these variances across luxury sedans is a key factor in identifying opportunities to increase CPO consideration and conversion, both within brand and competitively.
